The Close to Home series was intended to showcase the little moments of natural beauty occurring in Australian backyards and parks that bring joy to the artist. Australia is home to a wonderful variety of native flora and fauna, including interesting and uniquely evolved plants such as the banksia. The shape and texture of the banksia seed pods are unmistakable and lend themselves so beautifully to be depicted in the earthy tones of charcoal.
